Program Assistants (PA) are an important part of a successful Pre Canskate and Canskate Program. They work alongside the professional coaches to help deliver a quality program. The PA program allows experienced skaters to serve as role models for our younger skaters, and practice their leadership skills. The PA program can also be used to complete high school volunteer hours.
NDSC’s PA program consists solely of volunteers who take time out of their schedules to help the program succeed.
We are actively recruiting program assistants for our programs. If your skater is on session 2/3 or coach approved for session 1 skaters, please let Coach Carissa know. A mandatory PA training will be held before canskate begins.
The responsibilities of a PA include:
Setting up/cleaning up the circuits (toys, pylons) that each program requires
Assist young skaters on/off the ice, helping new skaters with standing, balancing, getting up, and stroking
Demonstrate the skills and lead the skaters through the program
Be a role model for all skaters participating in the session
