Message from the Board
Carnival practice is in full swing. Thank you to our Coaching staff and Program Assistants for helping bring Carnival to life!

Carnival can be a busy time of year with practice schedules, added responsibilities and last-minute changes. We appreciate the extra effort families put in to ensure the event runs smoothly. Seeing the excitement of our skaters during Carnival makes it all worthwhile!

Thank you also to our Carnival Committee and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure the event is successful.

Carnival

The Carnival package (attached) is a great resource for all your Carnival-related questions.

A few important reminders:

Volunteer positions: all families are required to volunteer in some way for Carnival. Please ensure you’ve signed up for a position. There are still open positions. The sign-up sheet is available at the arena each week. Volunteers are still needed to create props and complete odd jobs. If you need volunteer hours, please reach out to us.

Dressing room positions are required for the FULL SHOW. There are no options for “first half only” or “second half only.” This is important as we cannot leave skaters unattended in the changerooms. Reminder that parents are not permitted in the changerooms during Carnival. Dressing Room Attendants will help your child tie skates and get into their costumes. Crafts are available in the room to help skaters pass the time when they’re not skating.

Tickets are available for pre-sale at the arena during skating times. Parents skating in the Family number do not require a ticket. All other parents and siblings need to buy tickets (unless under the age of 5) but receive a wristband/stamp for entrance into the second show. Exact cash is preferred for ticket sales. Tickets are also available at the door. A poster is attached if you’d like to share with Friends and Family.

Flower bouquets are also available from PD Florals for pre-sale at the ticket sale table. Bouquets are $20 with some of the proceeds going back to NDSC. Flower sales are cash only in advance. Carnations will also be for sale at the Carnival.

Check your schedule. The Carnival practice schedule is on page 5 of your Carnival package. We recommend you save this and keep it with you as skating times vary for sessions. An image of the schedule is attached. Please ensure your skater is ready for practice on time so to not disrupt the activity on the ice. Notify Coaches if your skater will be absent (info@norwichskatingclub.ca). There is regular Carnival practice during March Break. Please also mark your calendar for the Technical and Dress Rehearsals on Wednesday March 25 and Friday, March 27. These rehearsals are very important for your skater.

Skaters in CanSkate who are not participating in Carnival will have their final lessons on Saturday, March 14 with Program Assistants.

Costumes are to be returned at the end of the final show (not brought home). Please remember to pack a change of clothes for your skater to go home in.

Fundraising
For those who placed a Little Caesar’s Pizza order, pick up is Wednesday, March 11 at the arena after 4:30p.m. We do not have the ability to store your orders, please arrange for someone to pick up your order if you are unable to do so.

Spirit Day

Saturday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 18 are Spirit Days. Be sure to wear your lucky green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Photo Consent

We love to showcase the incredible work of our skating family on our website and Facebook. Most photos are group photos and will never list surnames. If you haven’t done so already, please let us know if we have your consent to share photos that may include your skater.

Annual General Meeting & Board of Directors

Our AGM will be held on Monday, March 30 in the Blueline Room. This event is for ALL skating families. A potluck dinner will be held starting at 5:30p.m., awards at 6:00 p.m. with the AGM begins after awards (around 6:45/7pm). The AGM is a great way to meet the current Board of Directors, ask questions and cast your vote for next year’s Board of Directors.
