Message from the Board of Directors

We are approaching Carnival Season, and we couldn’t be more excited! From now until March 28, you’ll be receiving communication mostly related to practices and other Carnival-related updates. Practice begins March 2. There will be a different practice schedule the week of the Carnival which we will share.

A separate email is coming with Carnival info only. We suggest you flag the email in your inbox so you can reference it for the next several weeks. 😊

Remember, if you have any questions for the Board, please email info@norwichskatingclub.ca. You can also connect with Coach Carissa anytime. Email is monitored daily and we will try and respond as soon as we can.

Fundraising

🍗 Chicken orders can be picked up on Wednesday, February 11 at the arena after 4:30 p.m. Please note, we cannot store chicken for you, so please arrange for pick up if you cannot make it.

🍕Pizza time! Little Caesar’s Pizza fundraising begins Friday, February 6, with orders due online February 22. Orders can be placed online. Delivery will be March 12 at the arena. Place your orders online using fundraiser ID 476942. Flyer attached.

 

February Theme Day
💖This month’s theme is Be My Valentine. Wear your red, pink and white and share the love! s Theme days are Wednesday, February 11, Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14. 💖

 

Social media and photography

Our Club currently has a private Facebook Group for skaters and some family members who have joined. We would like to expand our Facebook and Instagram presence by creating a public Facebook and Instagram page for NDSC. We would love to feature the amazing work our skaters of all levels have been achieving on those pages. It will also be an opportunity for us to share fundraising and Carnival info.

‼️ ACTION REQUIRED: We need to be sure we have on record, parent’s consent for photography (or non-consent) on file. When you registered, you would have signed the NDSC Registration Waiver which included a note about photography and social media. Because it was included within the registration and not as a separate policy, this year, please let us know immediately if you give permission for your skater to be photographed and shared publicly using this form.

Carnival
Carnival will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold in advance. If you are not participating in Carnival, please email us to let us know (reply to this email).

Please watch for the Carnival email coming shortly. Here are some important notes in the meantime.

The casting list is attached and was shared at a Parent Info Session on January 26. If you have any questions about Carnival, please ask Teresa, Coach Sarah or Coach Carissa. Costume questions should be directed to Teresa.

Session 1: if you received a black size small bodysuit, please return it. We need to redistribute bodysuits.

Carnival Picture Night (February 19): held in the community centre next to the arena. Please review the schedule and arrive early, with skates and hard guards. No helmets. Pizza and snacks will be available for purchase. Please do not eat in your costume. Individual photos can be purchased (link to order will be sent in advance).

Toy Drive: In keeping with the theme of our Carnival, NDSC is hosting a toy drive in support of local programs. Please consider dropping off a new unwrapped toy prior or during the Carnival.

Practice schedule: Please review the practice schedule in your Carnival package. While skating times stay mostly the same, there are some instances where skaters will stay longer to rehearse. There will be a separate practice schedule for the week of Carnival, so please be prepared for some time changes and extra practices if needed.
